We are a VC-backed climate tech startup headquartered in Singapore with operating teams in the Philippines and Indonesia.

Role

We are looking for Head of Engineering to be in charge of the company’s technology development and engineering. In this role you will be responsible for the design, development, testing and production of various biomass pyrolyzers, boilers / burners / furnaces, steam heating systems, heat exchangers, biomass-to-energy systems etc.

 

We are looking for an engineering professional who has an equally strategic and visionary mindset and a hands-on approach to execution as well as is experienced in the abovementioned systems, leading teams and delivering products to clients.

 

We are at an early stage so you will have a chance to significantly shape the company’s core technology, create the most value for our clients, and make the biggest climate impact.

 

Our production facility is based in Cabuyao, just outside of Metro Manila.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the equipment design process including collecting feedback and discussing any potential design changes and modifications with clients, and technology, implementation, and manufacturing teams

  • Lead the development and production of the equipment prototypes for testing

  • Conduct rigorous reliability / usability tests and modify the equipment based on the test results

  • Document the equipment design process, iterations, and testing

  • Evaluate design solutions against industry standards and government regulations

  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets

  • Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals for the equipment being developed by the company

  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements / emerging technologies in biomass pyrolysis, biochar production, and waste-to-energy processes

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar field) from a top university with outstanding results

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the design, development, testing and production of high-temperature and high-pressure equipment / systems such as biomass pyrolyzers, boilers / burners / furnaces, steam heating systems, heat exchangers, biomass-to-energy systems etc.

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience leading and/or managing interdisciplinary (but primarily engineering) teams at the manager level

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience delivering commercial-grade products to clients

  • Strong knowledge of design and engineering principles for high-temperature and high-pressure applications

  • Proficiency with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Fusion360 etc.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills

  • Interest in climate tech and a sense of urgency to mitigate climate change

  • Ability to work at our production facility in Cabuyao 2-3 days a week
