JANUARY 2026 - WasteX is working with Universitas Tribhuwana Tunggadewi (UNITRI) to support the development and wider adoption of biochar in Indonesia.
The collaboration strengthens WasteX’s ongoing engagement with industry players, government institutions, and non-governmental organizations to support climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural systems in the country.
The collaboration was initiated through a guest lecture and podcast session, serving as the first step toward deeper cooperation between academia and industry.
The partnership is designed to connect academic knowledge with real conditions on the ground, ensuring that biochar studies reflect actual farming practices and challenges. It also creates a channel for practical knowledge sharing between universities, industry players, and farmers.
Future activities are expected to include training programs, site exposure, and technology transfer initiatives to support applied biochar implementation.
UNITRI as a Strategic Partner
UNITRI is among the early academic institutions in Indonesia to formally integrate biochar into its curriculum. This long-standing focus has contributed to the growth of biochar knowledge and research within the country.
The university also played an important role in the establishment of the Indonesian Biochar Association (ABI) in 2012, helping lay the academic foundation for biochar development at the national level.
By combining WasteX’s end-to-end biochar solutions with UNITRI’s research expertise, the collaboration aims to bridge the gap between laboratory research and field application.
Further updates will be shared as research outcomes are translated into practical results on the ground.
