In early 2025, WasteX has successfully issued and sold Indonesia's first-ever biochar carbon credits endorsed by the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA).
This success demonstrates WasteX's capability to generate high-integrity carbon credits that meet the most rigorous international standards.
Why ICROA Matters
The ICROA endorsement provides unparalleled assurance for carbon credit buyers. It verifies that the offsets are:
Real: representing actual climate impact
Measurable: quantified in tonnes of CO2 equivalent
Verifiable: independently checked and validated
Permanent: providing long-term carbon removal
In a market often clouded by uncertainty, ICROA sets a high bar for credibility. Buyers can be confident they are investing in real climate action.
WasteX's Biochar Projects in Indonesia
WasteX's biochar projects are run in partnership with local mills and farmers across Java, yielding significant environmental and community benefits.

Project achievements to date include:
Over 100 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) sequestered.
Almost 100 tons of biochar distributed to farmers.
"This is a proud moment for WasteX and for Indonesia," said Pawel Kuznicki, Founder and CEO of WasteX. "Our ICROA-endorsed credits demonstrate the highest standards of integrity in carbon markets.”
WasteX plans to significantly scale its operations, with a target to distribute an additional 300 to 5,400 tons of biochar throughout 2025, furthering its commitment to high-quality carbon removal.
